PORTO OF GUANTA
Latitude: 10° 15’
North (N); Longitude: 64° 35’ West (W)

Location: 8 kilometers (5 miles) to the east of Puerto La Cruz, one will find the port of Guanta which is located to the South of the bay with the same name. As a result of the coastal configuration, it is a sheltered port with smooth waters, with depths that vary from 10 to 28 meters. The bottom is low and muddy towards the Western side. There are hardly any currents and the entrance faces a ENE current. The tide's width is of 0.51 meters , which practically does not affect the depth.

Approach and pilotage: Ships approaching the Port of Guanta must do so through Pozuelos Bay, which has an excellent anchoring ground. Use of Pilot Services is compulso ry for all maneuvers both in Guanta and in the other terminais in the area. Request for Pilot services must be made in advance.

Tugs: Tug boats are available. They are privately and Government and owned and the rendering of the service may be slow. Within the port it is com pulsory to seccure lines to the tug in order to insure successful maneuvers.
